Once you have established your collaborative environment, in your initial discussion, describe the lesson you are considering adapting or developing as the centerpiece of your Capstone I Portfolio Exhibit and explain how existing learning resources could be designed or adapted to include students' use of technology tools to research and collect information online and to create a digital product.
Hi Leatha. Listed below is my idea on what I am going to do for my lesson. Let me know what you think.
Kim Weaver Lesson #1
Economics Technology Integration Lesson
This lesson is a collaborative lesson to integrate technology into the social studies unit on Economics. The teacher and the school’s SS CITT (Curriculum Integration Technology Teacher) will each have a role in the lesson. The teacher will introduce and teach the economics vocabulary and concepts as well as explain directions and requirements for final project. The SS CITT will model and teach the students how to use free clipart and Keynote to create a final presentation. SS CITT will introduce how to use iMovie for those who would rather use it to create their presentations.
Objective: The students will be able to identify the difference between natural, capital, and human resources by using real-world examples from the internet and sorting pictures into categories. The students will also be able to identify goods and services. The students will be able to navigate a website to view several short videos and to identify natural, capital, human resources as well as goods and services. They will complete a graphic organizer created by the SS CITT based on the videos. They will use a copyright free clipart website to choose between creating a keynote or iMovie presentation that demonstrates mastery of economics vocabulary and concepts. Students may also choose to use the webquest creator website Zunal.com to create their own webquest showcasing their understanding of economic concepts.
Virginia’s Standards of Learning indicates that second and third graders be taught how producers use natural resources, human resources, and capital resources to produce goods and services for consumers.
